Child rescued after being left inside vehicle during record Edmonton heat

EDMONTON – A little girl is in an Edmonton hospital after she was found near death inside a parked vehicle on a day when the temperature and humidex in the city had reached extreme levels.

The child — believed to be three or four years old — was discovered early Tuesday evening at a townhouse complex.

It’s not known who rescued her, or how long she had been in the vehicle.

Paramedics performed CPR and other procedures on the youngster before taking her to hospital, but there’s no word on her condition.

Police are investigating.

The rescue came a day before a funeral for a two-year-old Ontario boy, Maximus Huyskens, who died last week after being left alone in a sweltering car in Milton, west of Toronto.
