The Toronto Star reports that the SS Bigwin will be in the waters of the Lake of Bays this weekend for its first public cruise in decades.

Three years ago, the SS Bigwin briefly earned Tony Clement the nickname “Steamboat Tony” when it was discovered that the federal government had committed nearly $400,000 to the ship’s restoration. At the time, the Bigwin was falsely implicated in the G8 Legacy Fund. The Bigwin’s boosters had applied for funding through the G8 Legacy Fund, but, in fact, the $380,000 grant had been pledged through FedNor.
