Tom Mulcair doesn’t make a habit of leading Question Period with queries about jobs and the economy. Mulcair has spent weeks asking about electoral reform, government surveillance, temporary foreign workers and troubled Supreme Court appointments. The NDP gets around to the economy, but they tend to front-load their attacks with alleged Tory incompetence on myriad other files.

Today, Mulcair spent some questions on jobs during his opening rounds. He called on the government to reintroduce an expired small-business tax credit. Prime Minister Stephen Harper confidently swatted the question.
