Maclean’s contributor Evan Solomon explores three key issues we can expect to hear more of after Labour Day.

No surprise that the Syrian refugee debate tops the list. “Politically, this is not going away. Tragically, on the more important human level, the situation is getting much worse,” Solomon explains in the video.

Debate about the Canadian economy is also unlikely to disappear. “Any way you look at it, tepid growth or negative growth, the economy remains an issue.”

Also on the “what to watch” list: First Nations. “It was not so long ago that the Idle No More movement galvanized attention around the country,” Solomon says. “If First Nations, and youth, in particular, feel ignored in the campaign—and it’s hard to not see it that way—could it spark some social action?”
