Captain Nemo Was Rarely Emo

In lieu of a second post today, here’s another “how many other Canadians grew up watching this?” question. This cartoon was also seen in the U.S., but by the ’80s it was still being shown here as Canadian-content filler, and that’s where I saw it. Having been produced in the early ’70s, it dates from near the beginning of environmentally-conscious messages in kids’ cartoons, what TVTropes.org referred to as a “Green Aesop.” By the time I watched it, of course, these messages had become common (if even more heavy-handed) and the fact that this was supposed to be teaching me ecology lessons kind of went over my head sometimes.
