Elizabeth May: the interview

Macleans.ca caught up with Elizabeth May as the train pulled into Alberta’s Jasper National Park yesterday morning. Have a read. She’s none too happy with Mr. Layton.

Whistlestop audio clip: Nuclear disarmament

Here’s a clip from yesterday’s rally in Edmonton. It’s 13-odd minutes, if you’re interested.

Should Elizabeth May do debate prep?

Yesterday, she told Maclean’s she won’t be doing any.

Whistlestop: Winnipeg

Welcome to Winnipeg, where May’s grassroots revolution picked up serious steam. 150-odd supporters greeted May in the station’s spectacular marble rotunda (the acoustics gave off the impression that there were several thousand more).

No rush on the Green Train

The Greens are knocking back organic elk jerky and playing harmonica (well, that one guy is) as we roll past suburban Winnipeg en route to a rally at the city’s downtown VIA station. We’re moving at about 30 kilometres per hour—judging by the minivans whizzing past—so should be there some time this evening.

The whistle stop tour reminds me of….

….A Fellini movie, says deputy Green party leader Adriane Carr, who played Festival Express for media Sunday night.

Whistlestop: Melville

Aaron Kienle, who owns a bar and a gym in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, was one of seven Green Party supporters who showed up at the white, clapboard train station at Melville, Saskatchewan at 4:40 a.m.

The littlest Green

Some Greens have been jumping aboard May’s campaign train, and riding with her for a portion of the trip. Robert Judge rode from Biggar to Saskatoon (where he met his sleepy son) in support of May and high-speed rail “which,” he says, “is sorely lacking in this country.”

Greens are nocturnal

“They’re like bats,” said a grizzled reporter, grumbling over tonight’s grim schedule: whistle stops at 1:00, 4:30 and 8:30 a.m.

Whistlestop: Edmonton

The whistle stop tour gets a lot of attention. Everywhere we go.
