The commander of Russia’s invasion force says he doesn’t expect to leave Georgia for 10 days, anyway. They were supposed to be gone by tomorrow, after they were supposed to be gone on Monday, after they were supposed to be gone last week, after they were never supposed to invade in the first place.

Nicolas Sarkozy gives yet another prime-time televised interview with hand-picked reporters to list his priorities for the French Presidency of the European Union, which begins tomorrow, July 1, a national holiday in certain countries said to be dear to France’s heart. And where is the project for a Canada-EU trade deal, which Jean Charest has been pushing for a year and a half, precisely with an eye to the six-month window of France’s EU presidency? Absent.

Liveblogging the Maclean’s Trial III: Die Another Day

Day three dawns, and the crowds have thinned. Maybe a dozen spectators today, none of the protestors (pro-Steyn!) of the first day. Media is down to me and Brian Hutchinson of the National Post, whose fine piece on yesterday’s proceedings is definitely worth a read. Ian Mulgrew also offers a trenchant article in the Vancouver Sun. (UPDATE: My mistake. The Province is here, as was Terry Milewski of the CBC, at least to start. Also some smaller publications.)
