Speaking Of Computer Errors…

I mentioned in connection with Better Off Ted that “computer error” is one of the most-used plots in the TV world. Well, the season finale of Better Off Ted still doesn’t have any ratings data for the network to evaluate… due to a computer error.

It’s likely particularly frustrating for creatives at shows like ABC sitcom “Better Off Ted,” which aired its season finale Tuesday night — yet a day later, the network and those behind the show had no idea how the episode performed… Nielsen blamed the delay on a computer bug, which caused the server malfunction and prevented the Sunday night ratings from being properly reported. That, like dominoes, led to delays with Monday’s and Tuesday’s ratings as well.

Once again, standard TV plots are proven to be based in reality. Next week’s top media story: the executives at a major network get trapped in an elevator just as one of them goes into labour.
