The Genie Award nominations were announced this afternoon, and the fullest list of nominees I’ve found so far is, oddly enough, at Variety (this article doesn’t seem to be behind the paywall).
As expected, Barney’s Version and Incendies are the most-nominated films, and — largely thanks to Barney’s Version — a hefty chunk of acting nominations go to actors whose names are recognizable from U.S. films.(Even Incendies has a certain claim to being U.S.-recognized, since it was already nominated for the Best Foreign Film Oscar.) For those interested in the question raised earlier, of the difference between being the best director and making the best film, all five Best Film nominees were also nominated for Best Director.
