Mr. Harper met with Ms Raitt and the minister offered her resignation, Mr. Teneycke said.

“The Prime Minister, given the facts of the situation, did not feel that was the appropriate course of action as it is not a result of the personal conduct of the minister herself but rather the failure of proper procedures at a staff level.”

The member of Ms. Raitt’s staff who was responsible for the handling of those documents offered their resignation “and it was accepted,” Mr. Teneycke said.
