The summer of (waiting on) Trudeau

by Aaron Wherry

The Liberal MP for Papineau visits Caledon.

He has been mentioned as a possible leader of the party, and Trudeau said he’s been humbled and flattered by the support, but added a decision in that regard will be based on personal considerations, especially his family. “I had an amazing role model,” he said. “I know it can be done. I’m not sure if it can be done by me right now.

“I guess you guys will find out at the end of the summer,” he added.

The summer of (waiting on) Trudeau

  1. I don’t believe Trudeau should run for leadership yet because he clearly wants to spend time with his children while they are young and want their dad around. Everything I have read about Trudeau make it seem like he doesn’t want to be an absent father, he should be commended, but presumably he’s also under pressure to save Lib party from extinction or somesuch. I guess that Trudeau is not a type a personality and is comfortable doing what he’s doing now.

  2. His children will thank him later for choosing them over a moribund political institution which, by the time they are teens, will have long since disappeared.
