Thompson Rivers University (TRU) offers a two-part MBA program.

Many students first complete a graduate diploma of business administration (GDBA) program, which takes eight months. The goal is ensuring all participants have a firm foundation in the basic principles of business management. Courses cover topics like financial accounting, human resources management and statistics. Upon earning their diploma, students move to three semesters of MBA courses. Students conclude the program with either courses on advanced topics or a graduate project. For the project, participants can choose to focus on a particular practical management challenge or work with an adviser on an academic thesis.

(Students can apply to move directly into the MBA program based on their prior academic record.)

The school offers flexible options for completing coursework. Classes can be taken on campus or online with the same professors, class size and curriculum. Students can blend the two options to suit their schedule.

TRU also has both an accelerated MBA program, which can be completed in 12 months, and a part-time option. If students choose to take this route, they have three years to complete the GDBA program and another five years to complete the MBA program.

The TRU School of Business and Economics recently launched Bridge to Business, which connects graduate students with members of the business community. Students interact with CEOs, business owners and other professionals through guest lectures, seminars, corporate networking events and mentoring opportunities.
