FTC to implement rules for bloggers

U.S. agency wants blogs to disclose freebies

The blog police are coming. The US Federal Trade Commission has announced new rules to govern the net, and force bloggers who review or endorse products to disclose “freebies” and financial interests or face steep fines. The idea is to create some transparency in the growing field of “word of mouth” marketing. But it’s not clear how the FTC is going to tackle its vast new task.
