“I always had fresh bruises every day.”

Marlee Matlin accuses William Hurt of abuse in her new book

Marlee Matlin, the deaf actress who won an Oscar for Children Of a Lesser God, claims in her new book that she suffered physical abuse at the hands of the film’s other star, William Hurt. In the book, entitled I’ll Scream Later, Matlin describes a two-year affair with Hurt when she was hooked on drugs, and he was an alcoholic; she alleges that at one point he threw her on the bed and ripped off her clothes while she screamed “Please, no, Bill.” She also told Access Hollywood that “I always had fresh bruises every day.” Hurt has just been announced as part of the cast of Ridley Scott’s new Robin Hood movie, but that may not be the first thing reporters ask him about today.
