Conscious uncouplings: Who parted ways in 2014?

Annoyingly perfect even when she’s not, Gwyneth Paltrow made eyes roll when she revealed plans to “consciously uncouple” from her husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. But what was initially dismissed as a euphemism for a failed celebrity marriage turned out to be something more. Martin reportedly bought a house across the street from his ex in order to be closer to their two children. And though it hasn’t always been easy—Paltrow flipped out when Martin began dating 24-year-old actress Jennifer Lawrence—the pair enjoy better relations, post-relationship, than many couples who stay together. Infuriating.
