New York Times reporter Carlotta Gall is the author of The Wrong Enemy: America in Afghanistan, 2001-2014, which argues that Pakistan, not Afghanistan has been the true enemy of the West, ever since 9/11 — arming, training and funding the Taliban, and even protecting al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, among other Islamist extremists.

Gall spoke to Maclean’s in Ottawa, shortly before briefing officials with the Canadian government, which officially considers Pakistan “an important ally for Canada in the global fight against terrorism.”
