Baba Weighs In

I get press releases:

Baba Brinkman, the internationally acclaimed Vancouver rap artist, writer, actor, and son of Vancouver Quadra Liberal MP Joyce Murray, has released an infectious new rap song targeting both Stephen Harper and Jack Layton. Brinkman shoots from the hip, both left and right, taking Harper to task for the Chuck Cadman bribery scandal, for his recent cuts to the Arts, and for his imposition of an extreme right wing Neo-con style agenda on Canada. Brinkman also dismisses Layton as a false choice and the source of Canada’s split-left woes. The song envisions a future where both Stéphane Dion and Barack Obama win their respective elections, “so the whole continent goes progressive and conscientious.”

Baba Brinkman recently returned from a three and a half month tour of the UK with his award-winning one-man show “The Rap Canterbury Tales” and also debuted a new hip-hop theatre show “The Rebel Cell” at the Edinburgh Fringe in August. “The Rebel Cell”, a dystopian future parable about political dissidence and revolution co-written with BBC National Slam Champion MC Dizraeli, received rave reviews from the UK press during its initial run in Edinburgh: “High-octane lyrical content…a cerebral, savvy production that explores our modern social contract with vivacity and zeal.”
