With online streams and social media, new avenues of diplomacy are opening. What does that mean for traditional avenues of diplomacy, and for the state itself? Maclean’s will be live-streaming the Centre for International Governance Innovation’s public lecture from Taylor Owen, assistant professor of Digital Media and Global Affairs at the University of British Columbia, and the author of Disruptive Power: The Crisis of the State. He’ll discuss the future of diplomacy, predict how international relations will dramatically evolve over the next two decades, and how a newly digital global citizenry will begin to challenge the very definition of the state.

The live-stream below will start with the lecture on Wednesday, April 29, at 7 PM ET. You can ask questions of Owen from the live-stream audience—just use the Twitter hashtag #CIGILive, or send tweets to @CIGIOnline to submit questions to the speaker on stage.
