C-461, the bill of Brent Rathgeber’s that was controversially amended in June, returned to the House on Friday, with Mr. Rathgeber moving several amendments.

By Mr. Rathgeber’s amendments, the portions of the bill that involve access to information and the CBC would be deleted. The bar for salary disclosure, which had originally been $188,000, but was then amended by Conservative MPs to be $444,000, would go down to anyone earning more than an MP (currently $160,200). Mr. Rathgeber explains his amendments here.

The NDP’s Murray Rankin declared himself 100% in favour of the bill as it would be amended by Mr. Rathgeber’s proposals. And Conservative MP John Williamson said he will support Mr. Rathgeber’s amendments.
